Did You Know? An Octopus Has Three Hearts!
Octopuses have not one, not two, but THREE hearts — and their blood is blue!
An Octopus Has Three Hearts! 🐙
Here’s one that will blow your kids’ minds: an octopus has THREE hearts!
Two hearts pump blood to its gills (where it breathes underwater), and one heart pumps blood to the rest of its body. And here’s the extra-cool part: octopus blood is blue! That’s because it uses copper instead of iron to carry oxygen — which works better in cold, deep ocean water.
Color & Learn 🎨
When coloring an octopus, try making each heart a different color. Ask your kids: “If you had three hearts, what would each one be for?”
Maybe one heart for love, one for bravery, and one for silliness? 💙
