Did You Know? Lemons Float But Limes Sink!
Even though they look similar, lemons float in water while limes sink — it's all about density!
Lemons Float But Limes Sink! 🍋
Here’s a fun experiment to try at home: put a lemon and a lime in water — the lemon floats and the lime sinks!
Even though they look almost the same, limes are slightly denser than lemons. Lemons have a thicker, spongier rind full of tiny air pockets that help them float, while limes have a thinner rind and denser flesh. It’s a tiny difference, but enough to change everything!
Kitchen Science Art 🎨
Draw a glass of water with a lemon floating on top and a lime sitting at the bottom! Ask your kids: “What other foods do you think float or sink? Let’s test!”
Fun fact bonus: The largest lemon ever grown weighed over 11 pounds — that’s heavier than a newborn baby! 🍋
