People Believed Unicorns Were Real! 🦄

This is magical: for hundreds of years, people in medieval Europe genuinely believed unicorns were real animals!

Travelers and merchants would sell “unicorn horns” that were said to cure poison and disease. These horns were actually narwhal tusks — long spiral tusks from Arctic whales. They were so valuable that some were worth more than gold! Queen Elizabeth I had one that was valued at the price of a castle.

Magical Art Time 🎨

Design your own unicorn! What color would it be? What special powers would its horn have? Ask your kids: “If unicorns WERE real, where do you think they would live?”

Fun fact bonus: The national animal of Scotland is the unicorn! They chose it centuries ago because unicorns symbolized purity, strength, and independence. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
